About Us

Nighttime oil refinery with pumping units lit up.

Our Mission

Canyon Creek Resources acquires and develops conventional oil and gas assets by uniting, under one roof, the talent that the industry usually has to assemble from many: the geologists who identify the opportunity, the drilling and work over specialists who execute it, and the operators who produce it. We pursue proven, de-risked resources rather than speculative plays, and we manage capital and field risk with the same rigor we bring to the rock—so that every well we drill and every well we rejuvenate is engineered to perform.

Vision

To be the boutique independent operator of choice in the Texas Gulf Coast—building lasting value across the full life of every asset, from the geology beneath the ground to the barrel at the sales point, through disciplined development and responsible operations.

Margaret Collins is a licensed professional geologist in the States of Texas and Louisiana with over 20 years of experience in exploration, production, and environmental geology. Margaret is experienced in acquisitions of oil and gas assets primarily in Texas, Louisiana, and RockyMountain region. After graduating from University of Texas, at Arlington, with her degree inGeology, Margaret started her career at XTO Energy while working on her master’s degree in Geochemistry. At XTO Energy, she was responsible for evaluating existing fields for proven, non-developed reserves, and making recommendations for well re-completions.Later, her responsibilities turned to water flood management, optimization (enhanced oil recovery), and geomodelling. She was later hired by Laredo Petroleum where, as operational supervisor and geologist, she was instrumental in the drilling of over 100 vertical and horizontal wells utilizing 7 rigs over a 24-month period.  As a chief geologist at BTA Oil Producers she gained invaluable experience working with carbonate rocks in the Anadarko Basin. At Enervest, as senior geologist in Houston, Texas, she led a team of engineers in projects that resulted in additional reserves of 104.5 BCFG with a drilling budget of $30MM. Margaret found her niche in consulting for family offices in Louisiana following her stint with EnerVest where she brokered deals with saltwater disposal wells and a $3.5 million dollar divestiture of oil and gas assets in Colorado. In 2023, she earned her MBA from Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University

Mr. Orr is a degreed geologist with over 48 years of experience in the fields of oil and gas geology and production operations. His geological expertise spans numerous basins in the lower 48 states primarily in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming.Mr. Orr has drilled over 250 wells with a success rate exceeding 70%. Additionally, Mr. Orr has worked over or rejuvenated more than 200 wells as owner and operator.Mr. Orr began his career as a junior geologist with Texas Oil and Gas Corporation in 1976.Within 2 years he was elevated to a supervisory position with 5 geologists on his team, most of whom had 5-10 years’ experience. After 3 years, the company was selling more than12,000,000 cubic feet of gas per day and 200 bopd from wells drilled at Mr. Orr’s direction. In the late70’s he helped form an independent oil and gas company called AmericanShoreline. American Shoreline sold several oil and gas fields discovered by Mr. Orr for $45million, a 300% return on investment in less than 5 years. After practicing geology successfully for almost 20 years Mr. Orr made the decision to become more directly involved in and responsible for well operations, field management, and production supervision. Today, as a previous operator of oil and gas production, Mr. Orr combines his extensive geological knowledge and experience with almost three decades of hands-on well operations and field oversight and management. In 2002, Mr. Orr became involved with a relatively new and exciting technology called under balanced drilling or UBD. Weatherford International is the world leader in under balanced technology. To maximize his knowledge and experience in this relative new field Mr. Orr accepted a position with Seven Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Weatherford International in 2005.While with Seven Energy Mr. Orr pioneered numerous innovations in UBD including drilling with unconventional, non-damaging materials, and devising the methodology for unlocking the productive capacity of the Buda Limeusing UBD. This methodology maximizes the oil flow from a horizontal drain hole while eliminating very expensive hydraulic frac technology.Mr. Orr founded XNP Resources in June2009 as a Texas limited liability company. In June2010, XNP teamed up with Tahoe Energy Partners, LLC to acquire oil and gas leases for drilling in the Rocky Mountain region. At Mr. Orr’s direction, XNP began by acquiring a

strategic leasehold position in the Sand Wash Basin in Colorado because of Mr. Orr’s evaluations. As a result of Mr. Orr’s foresight, XNP was able to secure a major lease hold position in the heart of what has become the highly competitive Niobrara Shale play in westernColorado. By virtue of its early entrance into the play, XNP was able to sell a portion of its ownership for a substantial profit exceeding700% in a short 14-month span of time.More recently, Mr. Orr, as co-founder, president, and executive member of the board of directors, formed a new start up called HNR Acquisition Corp (NYSE American: HNRA) in the early part of 2000. By 1st Quarter 2021, Mr. Orr had secured the services of EF Hutton(formerly Kingswood Capital) as a sole underwriter, K&L Gates as the primary security firm,Continental Stock Transfer as the transfer agent, Citadel Securities as our chief market maker,Marcum as our chief auditing firm, and Morgan Stanley as our main financial institution. My intentions were to list HNRA on a major exchange and to offer shares through a SPAC IPO.On February 11, 2022, HNRA commenced its IPO on the New York Stock ExchangeAmerican, and within 5 hours it raised $75MM by offering its 7.5mm shares to its IPO investors. EF Hutton elected to exercise its right to acquire another 1.25mm shares of stock in HNRA for a total raise of $86,250,000. To date, HNRA has purchased oil and gas assets from a private company. The assets are located on the NW Shelf of the Permian basin inNew Mexico, and currently, the assets are averaging 1100 BOE with significant upside. A 3rd party engineering firm estimates the grand total PV10 is over $500MM in proved oil and gas reserves. Immediately following the purchase and closing of the aforementioned property on November 14, 2023, Mr. Orr resigned as president and executive board member of HNRA.Mr. Orr is currently seeking oil and gas producing properties and premier drilling opportunities.
